Manatee Community College is offering a CLA/CP Review course beginning May 8, 2008 at its Bradenton and Venice campuses simultaneously via telephone conference. It will provide a review of all areas of substantive law to prepare students for the National Association for Legal Assistants (NALA) certification exam.

SWFPA CLA Review Course — CANCELLED
Southwest Florida Paralegal Association, Inc. will be offering a CLA Review Course at MCC Lakewood Ranch Campus for 4 consecutive Saturdays, February 2, 9, 16, and 23, 2008. The course will cover all sections of the CLA exam: General Law, Communications, Judgment & Analytical Ability, Legal Research, Ethics, Litigation, Estate Planning/Probate, Business Organizations, Real Estate, Contracts, Administrative Law, Family Law, Criminal Law, and Bankruptcy. Each section will be taught by a Certified Legal Assistant with experience in that area.

NALA Eligibility Requirements for the CLA Exam
You must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible
to take the CLA Exam:
- Graduation from a paralegal/legal assisting program that is:
- Approved by the American Bar Association; or
- An Associate Degree Program; or
- A post-baccalaureate certificate program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
- A bachelor's degree program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
- A paralegal/legal assistant program with a minimum of 60 semester hours, of
which at least 15 semester hours are substantive legal courses; or
- A bachelor's degree in any field plus one year's experience as a
paralegal/legal assistant; or
- A high school diploma or equivalent plus 7 year's experience as a
paralegal/legal assistant under the direct supervision of a member of the bar,
plus evidence of a minimum of 20 hrs of continuing legal education credit
completed within the 2 years immediately preceding the examination date.
