CLA Review Course
2010 SWFPA CP/CLA Review Course

Southwest Florida Paralegal Association, Inc. will be offering a CP/CLA Review Course at MCC Lakewood Ranch Campus for 4 consecutive Saturdays, February 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2010. The course will cover all sections of the CP/CLA exam: General Law, Communications, Judgment & Analytical Ability, Legal Research, Ethics, Litigation, Estate Planning/Probate, Business Organizations, Real Estate, Contracts, Administrative Law, Family Law, Criminal Law, and Bankruptcy. Each section will be taught by a Certified Legal Assistant with experience in that area.

When:
Saturdays: February 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2010
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Driving Directions:
Manatee Community College, Lakewood Ranch Campus is located just east of I-75 at the University Parkway intersection (exit #213).

Directions: From I-75, head East on University Parkway. At the 3rd traffic light, make a right onto Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. At the first stop sign, make a left onto Professional Parkway East. Follow that for approximately 1 mile. MCC will be on the left side of the road — 7131 Professional Parkway East.

Cost:
$75.00 for SWFPA Members
$95.00 for Non-SWFPA Members

CLE Credit:
NALA approved for 24 hours or 2.4 units of CLE Credit

NALA Eligibility Requirements for the CP/CLA Exam

You must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible to take the CP/CLA Exam:
  • Graduation from a paralegal/legal assisting program that is:
    • Approved by the American Bar Association; or
    • An Associate Degree Program; or
    • A post-baccalaureate certificate program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
    • A bachelor's degree program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
    • A paralegal/legal assistant program with a minimum of 60 semester hours, of which at least 15 semester hours are substantive legal courses; or
    • A bachelor's degree in any field plus one year's experience as a paralegal/legal assistant; or
    • A high school diploma or equivalent plus 7 year's experience as a paralegal/legal assistant under the direct supervision of a member of the bar, plus evidence of a minimum of 20 hrs of continuing legal education credit completed within the 2 years immediately preceding the examination date.
